Google launched the Gemini app for Windows on September 10, 2026, making it available globally for Windows 10 and 11. The company said an Alt + Space shortcut opens the assistant over a user’s active work.
The release gives Gemini a desktop app on Windows, an operating system from Microsoft. Microsoft’s Copilot app is already available on Windows and can be opened with a Copilot keyboard key or the Windows key plus C shortcut.
Google said users can also open Gemini from the taskbar or system tray. Its product page says the app runs on Windows 10 or later on x64 and ARM64 hardware.
The company said the app can pull information from Gmail and Google Drive. It can also be used to create images and videos.
Google made a Gemini app for macOS available to all users in May 2026, before the Windows release. On July 22, 2026, Google said Gemini had 950 million monthly active users and that daily active users had tripled over the preceding year.
As Go Big News reported on September 4, Google DeepMind brought WeatherNext 3 to Search, Gemini and Maps.
Google announced the Windows release in a post on X and detailed it in a blog post.
