On September 23, OpenAI said in a post on X that ChatGPT Voice can use plugins such as email, calendar and Slack. The company also said Voice can run on GPT-6 Astra, Sol and Luna.
The changes connect Voice to plugin-based tools and to ChatGPT Work, where OpenAI said users can create documents, decks, sites and spreadsheets on web and mobile.
9to5Mac reported that Astra had been available for several weeks, while Sol and Luna, the medium and small tiers, were upgraded to GPT-6 the day before the Voice announcement. The publication also said OpenAI introduced modern voice controls to the desktop ChatGPT app in July.
As Go Big News reported, OpenAI released GPT-6 Sol and Luna on September 22. The models were made available in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu.
T-Break reported that GPT-6 model availability in Voice depends on plan and workspace settings, and that ChatGPT Work is rolling out on web and mobile for eligible paid plans. It also reported that Business Premium seats use “GPT-Live-1 Voice usage at 1.25 credits per minute.” OpenAI did not confirm those details in its post.
OpenAI was established in December 2015 as a nonprofit by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Ilya Sutskever, Greg Brockman and others; the founders pledged $1 billion in total capital. Sam Altman is CEO and Greg Brockman is president.
