Firecrawl has raised a $75 million Series B led by Smash Capital and introduced Alexandria, a knowledge library for AI agents. The company announced both developments in a post on X.
Altos Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, Y Combinator, Freestyle and Offline Ventures also participated in the round, according to Firecrawl’s announcement.
Alexandria gives agents one place to locate a source, assess its contents and retrieve information. It combines official data providers, custom connectors and Firecrawl’s indexes with the live web.
The service connects to 82 providers across 471 capabilities and 28 categories, Firecrawl says. Its indexes contain more than 113 million papers, READMEs, issues and documentation. Listed sources include Fiscal.ai, FRED, the World Bank, Particle, Benzinga, GitHub, the SEC and the Census Bureau.
CEO Caleb Peffer said Firecrawl built Alexandria to let agents use existing and future knowledge while allowing contributors to share in the value created. The company said it plans to use a significant portion of the new funding to buy knowledge from people through a self-service system.
In tests across 845 tasks, Firecrawl said agents using Alexandria produced answer quality scores 21% higher than agents using built-in web tools. Firecrawl also reports that more than 1.5 million users build with its platform and that millions of Wikipedia data requests pass through it each month.
The San Francisco company started in 2022 as part of Y Combinator. It describes its core product as an API for searching, scraping and interacting with the web at scale, turning webpages into markdown or structured JSON for AI applications.
Before this round, Firecrawl raised a $14.5 million Series A in August 2025, led by Nexus Venture Partners. Go Big News reported on Aug. 27 that Firecrawl had opened a year of double credits to startups, up to $30,000.
