Cognition said on Sept. 8, 2026, that it had raised more than $2 billion at a $48 billion valuation. In a post on X and a blog post, the company called the financing a Series E and said run-rate revenue had grown from $492 million at its May round to almost $900 million.

A May 27 blog post said Cognition had raised more than $1 billion at a $26 billion valuation in its earlier round. Its valuation and run-rate revenue are now close to twice their May levels.

The round was led by new investors Andreessen Horowitz and Accel, alongside existing investors Founders Fund, General Catalyst, and Avenir, Cognition said. The company also listed NVIDIA among other investors including Benchmark, Bessemer, Kleiner Perkins, and T. Rowe Price.

Cognition, which said it started in 2024, operates Devin, an autonomous software engineer. Cognition says Devin “plans, writes, tests, and ships production code.” The company describes itself as an applied AI lab that builds end-to-end software agents.

Cognition said Devin is used for chip design at NVIDIA, aviation at GE Aerospace, financial services at Citi, automotive work at Mercedes-Benz, and AI infrastructure at Modal.

The company said Devin automations can watch Slack channels for alerts, investigate them and remediate issues. Teams can also configure work to start from events in Slack, GitHub and Linear. Devin Auto-Triage takes a first pass at incident investigations, while Devin Security Swarm finds and triages vulnerabilities, according to Cognition.

Cognition said it opened offices in Washington, D.C., Tokyo, Singapore, London, São Paulo, and Madrid in the past year, in addition to hubs in San Francisco, New York, and Austin. The company said its status as an independent agent lab allows it to choose and combine models, including its own, instead of tying customers to one provider.
