Arcee.ai has raised a Series B at a valuation of more than $1 billion, the company said in a post on X. It did not disclose the amount raised.

Vista Equity Partners, Cambium Capital and Emergence Capital led the round. AI10 Ventures, Hitachi, IAG, M12, P7 and Wipro also participated, according to the company’s announcement.

The funding is slated for Arcee’s Trinity model family, work with the U.S. Department of Energy and national laboratories on Genesis-Science-1, and a platform for model deployment. Trinity is planned to range from 4.5 billion-parameter dense models to 400 billion-parameter mixture-of-experts systems.

Genesis-Science-1 is an open-weight model for scientific computing under the Genesis Open Models Initiative. The DOE collaboration involves 17 national laboratories.

Arcee said it built its 2025 model lineup with about $20 million in total investment. The company built Trinity Large, a 400-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with 13 billion active parameters per token, in about six months.

CEO and co-founder Mark McQuade said organizations should not have to choose between “frontier model capabilities” and controlling their AI technology. Vista Equity Partners’ Monti Saroya cited Arcee’s technical execution and capital efficiency in building frontier open-weight models.

Before training open-weight foundation models from scratch in 2025, Arcee focused on post-training and customizing existing models for enterprises. The company raised a $24 million Series A in July 2024, led by Emergence Capital, to build its small language model platform.

The company announced the Series B in a post on X and a blog post.
