ScreenSmooth is a Chrome extension that records the screen with automatic zoom and a smooth cursor. Its website sells a lifetime license for a one-time $79 payment with no subscription. The plan includes unlimited recordings and devices, along with a commercial license.
The extension runs on Windows, macOS and Linux through Chrome, Edge or Brave. It automatically focuses zooms on clicks, while letting users add or edit zooms manually. Exports include WebM, MP4 and GIF, and recording runs locally in the browser.
The automatic zoom and smooth-cursor effects work only when recording browser tabs, according to ScreenSmooth’s terms. Desktop-application and full-screen recordings can still use manual zoom. The company says mouse coordinates, clicks and text-selection boundaries used for automatic zoom are processed on the device, are not sent to its servers and are discarded when recording stops or the tab closes.
The Chrome Web Store listing, offered by screensmoothapp, showed version 0.5.0, updated June 14, 2026. It listed 49 users and a 5.0 rating from one review.
ScreenSmooth’s changelog dates the initial v0.1 release to Jan. 28, 2026, with automatic zoom, a smooth cursor and MP4 export. Version 0.5, dated June 14, added custom backgrounds and draggable zoom positioning. The lifetime price started at $29 and rose through $39, $49 and $59 before reaching $79. A $99 price is planned.
ScreenSmooth launched on Product Hunt in 2026, ranking No. 11 for the day with 225 upvotes. Product Hunt lists Sayyid as the product’s only maker. Ali wrote there that he started building ScreenSmooth with $0.
A desktop app remains on the product roadmap and is not yet available.
