Notes has raised $5 million from musicians and music-industry leaders to find and claim more royalties for musicians, the company said in a post on X.

The funding comes as Notes expands a platform that combines royalty collection, distribution, publishing administration and financial management for independent musicians, artists and music companies.

Notes says the royalty system it targets leaves more than $1 billion in royalties unclaimed by artists each year. Its tool scans streaming services, collecting societies and registries, including the Mechanical Licensing Collective and SoundExchange, for missing recording, publishing and performance-rights royalties.

The round was funded almost exclusively by artists, managers and music-industry strategics, including Benny Blanco, Zach Bryan, Tainy, Blake Slatkin, Mt. Joy's Matt Quinn, WME Group Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel, Atlantic Music Group veteran Julie Greenwald, and Chord Music Partners co-founder Sam Hendel.

The company says it has identified more than $10 million in previously unclaimed royalties across catalogs including James Blake, Zach Bryan, Mt. Joy and girl in red. During its beta, unclaimed royalties identified averaged about $15,000 per artist, according to Music Ally.

Notes publicly launched in October 2025 after a year-long beta. It had reviewed catalogs of more than 400 artists covering songs with more than 50 billion streams.

The company is led by CEO and co-founder Tim Luckow, who previously co-founded artist distribution platform Stem. Concord acquired Stem in March 2025. Notes was co-founded by Luckow and Derek Davies and is headquartered in New York.

Notes charges a flat monthly subscription, with a free tier, rather than taking a percentage of royalties collected. The company says the funding will support platform development and scaled marketing as it expands globally.

Alongside the raise, Notes launched Credits.fm, a free, open music-credits database indexing more than 150 million song codes and credits. It also announced a partnership with Stripe to bring distribution, publishing administration and money management into one release flow, after recently debuting a Releases feature for distribution and royalty collection in one place.
