[Salesforce] completed its acquisition of [Fin](https://fin.ai) on Sept. 10, adding Fin’s customer-agent platform, technical AI team and customer base of more than 30,000 companies, the company said in a release.

Salesforce agreed on June 15 to buy Fin for approximately $3.6 billion, subject to customary purchase price adjustments. The earlier announcement had projected a fourth-quarter close in Salesforce’s fiscal 2027.

The deal adds autonomous service agents that Salesforce said can handle complex customer queries from start to finish across live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice and Slack. Salesforce said Fin’s agent has an average resolution rate of 76% and is powered by the Fin model suite, a set of proprietary models trained for customer experience.

For Salesforce customers, Fin is intended to work with the help desks and systems they already use. Salesforce said the product will sit alongside Agentforce, its customizable agent platform, expanding the company’s customer-service AI products.

Marc Benioff, Salesforce’s chair and CEO, said Fin’s technology and AI team would make Agentforce more capable for customer service. Fin CEO and co-founder Eoghan McCabe said joining Salesforce would allow the company to reach more businesses and customers.

Fin was formerly Intercom. It was founded as Intercom in August 2011 by McCabe, Des Traynor, David Barrett and Ciaran Lee, and changed its company name to Fin in May 2026 while retaining Intercom as the name of its customer-service software platform. Fin says it launched its AI agent in 2023.

Fin will operate within Salesforce AI Labs and continue serving its customers while developing its agent capabilities and models, Salesforce said. The company announced the close in a Sept. 10 post on X and a release from San Francisco.
