# Google Colab joins Google AI plans

> Google AI subscribers will receive priority access to faster accelerators and more capable machines. Ultra subscribers also gain Premium GPU access and uninterrupted background execution.

[Google Colab](https://google.com) joined Google AI plans on September 22, 2026, Google said in a [developer blog post](https://developers.googleblog.com/colab-is-now-part-of-your-google-ai-plan/). Standard plan subscribers will receive priority access to faster accelerators and more capable machines.

The change puts Colab’s premium computing benefits inside Google’s broader AI subscriptions. Colab is a free, browser-based hosted Jupyter notebook service for writing and running Python without local setup, with uses in machine learning, data analysis and education.

Google AI Ultra subscribers will get uninterrupted background execution and Premium GPU access, allowing long training runs to continue without the browser open. Google AI Ultra is offered in two price tiers, about $100 a month for five times the usage limits of Google AI Pro and about $200 a month for 20 times the limits, according to Google.

Google said the plans are “now the best way to get access to premium Colab benefits,” alongside expanded cloud storage, broader access to its most capable models, enhanced Gemini app features, Workspace integrations and premium access to developer tools such as Google Antigravity and Google AI Studio.

Before the change, Colab’s paid tiers were sold separately as Colab Pro and Colab Pro+ monthly compute-unit subscriptions, according to a Thunder Compute analysis of Colab’s pricing. Existing standalone Colab subscribers will see no changes, Google said, and Google AI and Colab subscriptions can be combined for additional premium-feature access.

Google introduced an AI-first Colab redesign in May 2025, adding Gemini-powered code assistance, a Data Science Agent and AI-driven code transformation. The new Google AI plan benefits will roll out over the next few weeks to subscribers in supported countries.
