CDP Venture Capital Sgr led the financing, with Mistral AI and VERTIS SGR participating, according to the company’s release. Mistral is both a customer and an investor in CLASTIX. The company said in a post on X that Mistral uses its control planes for training and inference clusters. Timothée Lacroix, Mistral’s co-founder and CTO, called CLASTIX the backbone of Mistral’s Kubernetes infrastructure in the release. The funding is earmarked for product development, customer success, solutions engineering and go-to-market expansion. CLASTIX also said it plans research and development for AI-scale workloads and team growth over three years. CLASTIX said Kamaji, its open-source Hosted Control Plane engine, will remain under the Apache 2.0 license. The company described kMetal as its commercial platform for operating Kubernetes fleets at scale. Kamaji runs Kubernetes control-plane components as pods instead of using dedicated machines for each cluster, according to its public repository. The Naples, Italy-based company was founded in 2020 by Adriano Pezzuto and Dario Tranchitella, according to press coverage. CLASTIX describes the seed as its first external investment. Alongside Kamaji and kMetal, it maintains Capsule, an open-source Kubernetes multi-tenancy project.
