[CatchBack](https://catchback.com) has raised an $8 million seed round led by Foundation Capital, the trading-card platform said in a post on X.

Y Combinator, Robinhood Ventures, Coinbase Ventures and the Solana Foundation also participated, according to the company’s announcement. CatchBack said it will use the funding to build products for collectibles trading.

The funding announcement thread says CatchBack has 75,000 users. That figure could not be independently verified. CatchBack’s [Y Combinator profile](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/catchback-cards) lists 700 users and $13,000 in monthly recurring revenue, with an iOS app launch date of January 25, 2026. The profile figures predate the funding-thread claim.

CatchBack lets collectors create and open digital mystery packs of trading cards. Its platform also offers cryptographically verified randomness, instant buybacks through Venmo and PayPal, and a $1 marketplace.

The San Francisco company is part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2026 batch and has a team of seven. Tracxn lists CatchBack Cards as founded in 2025 by co-founders Sophia Kim and Joseph Zhang. Its funding record lists a $500,000 YC-led round dated January 1, 2026, but does not yet include the new seed financing.

In a YC Launch post, Zhang and Kim said they started CatchBack after encountering high fees, fragmented liquidity and trust concerns around mystery packs while buying and selling cards across eBay, Whatnot and Instagram direct messages. The same post puts the global physical trading-card market at more than $20 billion annually.
