# OutlierKit opens YouTube research API and MCP server

[OutlierKit](https://outlierkit.com) is launching an API and MCP server that lets users access YouTube competitor data and insights outside its dashboard, Ayush announced in a post on X. Its MCP server provides 10 read-only research tools, including transcript pulls, comment extraction, keyword research, outlier searches and channel-similarity matching.

The company says the server works in Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. Its site also shows a Claude exchange for researching a niche.

Ayush framed the release as a shift away from the product’s dashboard-first form, saying users will be able to recreate their own versions of OutlierKit through the API and MCP server. For marketers and creators, that means the company’s research data can be used where they already work instead of only in OutlierKit’s interface.

API access is available on OutlierKit’s Pro and Max plans. The company also offers a free trial with 30 credits, paid Hobby, Pro and Max tiers, and lifetime-plan options.

OutlierKit positions itself against VidIQ and TubeBuddy as a pre-production content-strategy tool. It says its engine has analyzed more than 50 million videos and detected more than 5 million outliers. Its site also claims a 4.9/5 Product Hunt rating and more than 15,000 users.

OutlierKit is built by Jose, Ayush and Aditi. The three cofounders built the product in stealth for about six months before going public, and the company is bootstrapped with no outside investment.
