EQT completed its acquisition of Coller Capital on Aug. 31 for $3.2 billion in shares, with up to $500 million more contingent on performance through March 2029. The transaction, announced Jan. 22, creates Coller EQT.

The deal gives EQT a dedicated secondaries business as private-equity secondaries transaction volume reached a record $240 billion in 2025. That growth has followed larger funds and more GP-led deals, according to Dakota.

The base consideration consisted of 80,360,882 newly issued EQT ordinary shares, about 7% of its shares outstanding, at SEK 355 per share. EQT bought the Coller Capital management company, the general-partner entities controlling Coller funds, and 10% of carried interest in Coller’s latest secondaries flagship fund, CIP IX.

Jeremy Coller will run the unit as head and chief investment officer of Coller EQT and join EQT’s executive committee. The business will keep independence over origination and investment decisions, EQT said in its [closing release](https://eqtgroup.com/news/eqt-closes-combination-with-coller-capital-2026-08-31).

At closing, EQT reported €341 billion, or about $389 billion, in total assets under management, including €186 billion of fee-generating assets. Coller EQT says Coller Capital managed $55 billion as of March 31 across nine private-equity funds and two private-credit funds, with 331 employees globally.

EQT CEO Per Franzén said the firm aims to double Coller’s business in less than four years. State Street Investment Management, previously a minority Coller shareholder, became an EQT shareholder through the transaction.

Coller was founded in 1990 and made its first GP-led secondaries investment in 1996. Its competitors include Ardian, which raised $30 billion for its ninth secondaries fund, and Blackstone Strategic Partners, which managed roughly $91 billion of investor capital across secondaries, GP stakes and co-investments as of September 2025.
