[Diameter Pay](https://diameterpay.com) announced a $10 million Series A co-led by CMT Digital and Lightspeed Faction in a [Sept. 3, 2026, release issued from Jersey City](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/diameter-pay-raises-10-million-to-expand-global-access-to-the-us-dollar-302869225.html). CMT Digital said in a [post on X](https://x.com/cmt_digital/status/2095906621322911779) that it co-led the round and that Diameter Pay has processed more than $10 billion in payment volume this year. SixThirty Ventures, Stellar Development Foundation, Tech Council Ventures, Onigiri Capital and BitRock Capital also participated.

Founder and CEO David Lighton told The Block the Series A is Diameter Pay's first funding round and that the startup was bootstrapped before it. Diameter Pay, however, is a trade name of SendFriend Inc. SendFriend announced its rebrand as Diameter Pay in April 2023 after raising $1.7 million in 2019 from investors including Barclays, Mastercard Foundation and Ripple.

Lighton said fundraising began in April and ended in July, with the equity financing completed in one tranche. He declined to comment on the post-money valuation.

Banks, fintech companies and digital asset exchanges use Diameter Pay's payment infrastructure. Its platform includes U.S. dollar virtual accounts, domestic and international payments, stablecoin on- and off-ramps and compliance controls through U.S. banking partners. Lighton said the accounts allow foreign fintechs to offer dollar accounts to their customers while Diameter Pay manages compliance and payment controls, and the accounts can connect to stablecoin infrastructure.

Diameter Pay began processing payments for foreign banks in 2024. Lighton said New Jersey registrations cover the company as both a money services business and a money transmitter. He put its live end-user count at more than 10,000.

The company charges payment fees and sells to financial institutions that bring customers onto the platform. Lighton said clients include privately owned fintech companies and banks in financial hubs including Switzerland and Singapore, but he did not identify them.

Diameter Pay said it will use the capital to expand its banking and payment capabilities, deepen its stablecoin and foreign-exchange infrastructure, and fund technology and compliance work for moving dollars across borders. CMT Digital partner Charlie Sandor said stablecoins do not remove the need for trusted access to the U.S. banking system.

CMT Digital received a board seat, while Lightspeed Faction and SixThirty Ventures received observer seats, according to Lighton. Robert Pozen advises the board in a senior role and previously served as president of Fidelity Investments. Diameter Pay's team numbers 20, with its core group in the U.S. and additional teams in Argentina, Poland and Nigeria.
