[Temporal](https://temporal.io) has raised a $550 million Series E round at a $12.55 billion valuation, the company said in a post on X and a [blog post](https://temporal.io/blog/temporal-raises-usd550m-series-e-at-usd12-55b-valuation-ai).

Lightspeed and Wellington Management led the round. Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Tiger Global co-invested, while T. Rowe Price, SV Angel, a16z, Sequoia, Index, GIC, Sapphire Ventures and Amplify also participated.

The funding arrives as Temporal describes durable execution as a requirement for AI systems. OpenAI VP of Infrastructure Venkat Venkataramani said durable execution is more essential than before for modern AI systems. CEO Samar Abbas said AI has increased the cost of failing to build for reliability.

Temporal reported annualized revenue run-rate growth of more than 200% year over year. Net dollar retention has stayed above 200% since February. Its platform processed 1.9 trillion billable actions in August, roughly 350% more than a year earlier.

The company also reported 43 million open-source installs, up 134% since December 2025, and more than 4,300 paying customers, up 139% year over year. Customers cited by Temporal include OpenAI, Snap, NVIDIA and JPMorgan Chase.

Temporal provides software for long-running application workflows, handling state management, retries, error handling and failure recovery. It offers open-source software and Temporal Cloud. The company has 450,000 developers on its open-source platform and 4,000 organizations on Temporal Cloud.

The company said it will use the new funding to expand global operations, grow its 570-person team, invest in core platform primitives, and build enterprise reliability and security features. Temporal previously raised a $300 million Series D at a $5 billion post-money valuation, announced February 17, 2026.
