[Taste](https://buildwithtaste.com) founder Alex Kehr said in a post on X that he shipped an upgrade to the product's annotations. The change is intended to make it easier for Codex, Claude, Cursor and other AI tools to understand what a user loves or would change about a design, including designs shared by the Taste community.

Taste describes its product as turning saved design references into guidance that AI coding tools can use. The annotations update adds a way to communicate design preferences to those tools.

Taste connects to Codex, Claude Code and Cursor through Model Context Protocol, or MCP, allowing those tools to reference a user's design taste profile. The profile can be exported as a Claude or Codex skill. Taste also runs an MCP server with OAuth 2.0 authentication, which gives Cursor, Claude Code and Codex access to the profile as live context.

The product includes a community function, where designers can follow each other and rent other designers' taste profiles for specific projects. The announcement did not detail the technical changes behind the annotations upgrade.

Taste was built by Kehr and Infinite Idea Machine. Kehr is described as a designer, product manager and engineer, and Taste launched in 2026.

Before Taste, Kehr founded and served as Founder/CEO/Designer of Superlocal from 2019 to 2025. Superlocal, a personalized-map app backed by General Catalyst, Slow Ventures, SV Angel and other investors, was acquired by Foursquare in 2025; Kehr subsequently became a product leader at Foursquare while continuing to build Taste.
