But all the hopes were shattered when she lost the match to Ukrainian Marija Ulitinam, in straight games at 18-21, 19-21.

After that, she was hospitalized in Hyderabad on the knee injury which got worse during her match at Rio.She had inflammation in her right knee which hindered her during court movement also. Her coach revealed that she had an injury during practice also but got worse during the match.

But now Saina has been seen practicing with the shuttle and she look much better and fitter on the court. She has returned now only after RIO Olympics.

This is indeed a good news for all Saina’ fans. She desperately wanted to see more of Saina’s smashes on the court.

Another news that has come up is that Saina Nehwal is appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Athletes’ Commission. This is considered as one of the rare honor for an Indian Sportsperson. She received the letter for the same on Monday only from Thomas Bach.

The letter says, “Following your candidature for the elections of the IOC Athletes’ Commission during the Olympic Games Rio 2016, it is with great pleasure to appoint you in consultation with the Chair, as Member of the Athletes’ Commission.”

This letter came up just when she has planning to resume her game after the recovery from knee injury.

Her father was jubilant about it and expressed her happiness as, “I have become very emotional. It is a matter of great privilege for us that they recognized her and to be a part of the IOC. They thought that she could be of some use. She lost [a medal in the Olympics] because of the injury. We are proud of her.”
